The Van is being loaded

Today Claire pickled up the Hire Van from Thrifty and now fully loaded with food, spare parts , tools etc . Rather worringly the Medical kit supplied by TWSLD is rather big as if she is anticipating a multitude of untoward incidents hmmm.......

The Route

It took endless hours of research (on holiday in France) to decide on the perfect way to travel across Britain - in the end - we (I !)decided to follow a fairly standard Lejog route that avoids most major cities and main roads up along the left side of England. Only just realized that Scotland is soo long -thought it was near the end of the trip but really just about halfway or thereabouts.

Of course - it may all change but we have a limited amount of time as return flighs are booked for 17th of July from Inverness and we hope to get to JOG by the 15th of July with a day to spare should we need it (I think we just might!)

Nirvana : a nice smooth road with no traffic
(bollocks - this one was in Normandy):

Actually we did have a meeting and I was the Chairman!

TWSLD = The Wee Scottish Lady Doctor aka Mrs Farouk (in pic) - is in charge of publicity and must be congratulated on giving some glamour to the whole affair!

THE OFFICIAL LEJOG BLOG

Four of us are cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats - about a thousand miles at beginning of July 2010. Neil - Sam - Kumar and Marwan.

We have done some training and have shiny newish bikes - what could possibly go wrong?
Well, lots really because we are unfit, never cycled regularly (just learned the gears- Neil) and are rather tubby (Marwan). But we are all doctors so we should be able to handle most things. (Erh the only real doctor is Kumar- but Sam will look after all the cuts and bruises, Neil after our prostates (this apparently might be a problem) and Marwan will bring up the rear.

Its all in aid of charity and you can find out the details on this link:

Please make donation if you have something to spare - it all goes to a worthwhile cause - helping kids with a rare genetic condition.

We will go by train to Penzance - and start from Land's end on 2nd of July 2010.

Wish us luck!
