Day 11

Started miserably and ended gloriously in Beally near Inverness
67 miles
Total milage: 830

sam raced past agreed 2nd breakfast stop -much to my annoyance!

Nelly raced a real cyclist up the Hill towards the Commando Memorial

Then along the banks of Loch Ness , no monster spotted but stopped at whistle stop cafe for delayed 2nd?breakfast
Suffice to say we ate a lot! The cook took a sharp intake of breath when we told him our planned route

Hmm -we came up to the monster climb past Drumanadrochit (not sure about spelling) on road to Beauly

One of the longest steepest hills so far about 1 mile of 20% gradient but we made it all to the top without heart attack .
As soon as we got to the top the sun came up and the rain stopped absolutely glorious views of the Glens in the sunshine. Lifted the team spirits in an instant.

Arrived in Beauly where Andy was waiting with a cold beer which went down in 6 seconds.

Long hot bath, haggis, steak, whiskey
Shhh. What fun this was. .....

Heading into the Sutherland wastelands tomorrow. Over 80 miles so early start needed. ...... Off to bed now ...... After another whiskey or three

XXXx

Nelly P better after good talking to about fluid intake.

  1. Mr Farouk! Good work on the charitable bike ride, very impressive. Turned up on your doorstep last Saturday morning with a birthday card only to be told by the Scottish lady of your noble quest.

Just recieved my F1 rota. Day one: I'm the surgical house officer on-call. Bugger.

Best of luck, keep on trucking and eat for victory.

  2. 830 miles?! Tremendous! Love the blog. Laughed loads just at Marwan laughing at the Fox Hat, even though I don't know what the fox it was all about. Keep up the fluids and the calories. Nearly there now. Julia x
