Day 12

Beauly to Tongue
No rain No wind
Rode for 15 miles then good and bad news
Good: bananas from Andy
Bad : they were still green and nothing else for 15 miles

Nelly thought there had been a Murrrrrder because we saw a bin bag that could have contained body parts.

Views across moray and cromaty firth were spectacular!

Stopped at Bonar Bridge for 2nd Breakfast: A local bar with a steel door ordered food after the fat chef arrived for work.
Nelly had the biggest breakie eva! Huge chilli cheeslaw salad accompanied by the biggest baked potato I have ever seen.
Kumar went for healthy option : salad and Irn Bru ( we noted some of the issues that scots health service struggles with at the moment
Adult sugar content was 38% of daily intake )

Sam and I ate sensibly.

Then headed into Sutherland
absolutely amazing
Only stopping at Crask Inn (the loneliest pub in the uk)
we ate sardine sandwiches and were told that the A 9 route was so dangerous that 25% cyclist are murrrrderedd on that route
I noted that The proprietor had tucked his trooosers into his socks ! To avoid Midges flying up to his private parts
(we were grateful to have chosen tight fitting Lycra pants)

also fortunate for regular sprays of Neet onto all of our body parts ( the first of the drivers to do so)

The last 25 miles along the A836 (a dirt track with regulAr passing places for the rare car to pass us
Were the most amazing with spectacular views over the Barren countryside, mountains and lochs.

Total miles was 87 today given us a total of: ..

No punctures
Now the P report:
Nelly and Marwan good , Sam reported p only 6 times today -great concern to all
Not sure about KP - he ps alone 400 metres after we have been , no report on driver p

Also have to report that I did an extra mile compared to the others who took a shortcut to the hotel.
Apparently not part of the agreed route .
Hence have to correct final milage individually from now on!

Dinner great : Lobster Thermidor - we are not exactly slumming it!

Tomorrow it's Summit day
Final 65 miles to the finish at JOG

But strong headwind forecast

Who cares ! we are nearly there!
